Your light period means more than you think when it comes to your fertility
While having a light period may make that time of the month easier, it makes it much harder on your fertilized egg to successfully find a rich place to implant and get growing.
Every aspect of your cycle can tell you something about how well your body is functioning and what is going on with your fertility. When you know how to read all the different markers, you can learn SO much about what’s going on with your reproductive health. One major red flag that tells us there might be something serious going on with a woman’s fertility is a period with very light bleeding. You might think it’s great in terms of convenience, but having only a little bleeding can indicate that you have a thin lining and a thin lining can significantly increase the likelihood of infertility issues.
What’s blood got to do with it?
Your monthly bleeding is basically your unused uterine lining that gets discharged each month. You want it to be super lush and deep red, not light pink or light red. Before it is shed, your lining is where your perfectly fertilized egg tries to make its home, so that it can begin the work of becoming your baby. If there isn’t much blood, or the quality is low, your poor little egg is out of luck and won’t be able to implant.
The quality and quantity of menstrual blood that you release each month can act as an amazing monthly feedback mechanism to show you how well your body is responding to your diet and lifestyle. If your body is functioning optimally, and you are the most fertile you can be, the research shows that you will have about 4 days of bleeding and soak a tampon or pad every 4 hours (but not much more). Now lots of women say they have never had such period, but trust me it is achievable--and it should be the goal.
When there is adequate, high quality blood, your lining is thick and makes for a nutrient rich landing spot for the implantation of your fertilized egg to start to making a life within you. Remember too, that the blood that makes your uterine lining will also be providing nutrients for your developing baby so it is critical that that there is enough of it to handle the task. Imagine it this way: either your uterine lining is a thin paper napkin or a thick down blanket with a velvet duvet. Which do you think is a better place to lay your potential baby down?
